Both the M1 and the A1 run through Nottingham. From the South, leave the M1 at Junction 25, then take the A52 and follow clear signs to Nottingham. East Midlands airport is 10 miles from Nottingham and a 20 minute taxi ride into the city centre.

The biggest shopping mall in Nottingham is the Victoria Centre with 120 shops, all the best high street names...and the most fabulous cookie shop! Open on Sundays too. For upmarket, exclusive designer boutiques, go to the Exchange Arcade. Look out for Dollars Urban Wear on the Old Market Square– it sells a massive range of hip and trendy clothing from designers like Apple Bottom, Rocawear and Phat Farm, and a selection of designer handbags which you would walk over hot coals for!
You won’t find any men in tights in Nottingham these days (well, we hope not!), but Sherwood Forest Country Park is perfect for a nice walk and a picnic to recover from the night before, or you can hire a rowing boat in the university grounds.
A great lunchtime stop (after quad trekking or paintballing in the Sherwood Forest?) is a popular Latin bar/bistro called Las Iguanas which plays funky music, has a lovely outdoor terrace and serves refreshing cocktails with a fab menu of Latin street food like tapas and fajitas. If you just want a tasty snack and a coffee or hot chocolate, there’s a gem of a cafe called Jas Cafe which has a central garden to sit out in and have a natter.
